Camp Fire kids LOVE their weekend backpacks!
KETV’s Julie Cornell

Click here to read Julie’s story and watch the interviews.Since 1998 KETV’s 7 Can Help Kids has asked viewers to fill backpacks with school supplies to help local children go back to school prepared. Now, with your help we can fill backpacks with food for Camp Fire’s Weekend Food Program.

Due to the overwhelming response of KETV viewers to an October story about Camp Fire’s Weekend Food Program needs, KETV’s 7 Can Help Kids is partnering with Camp Fire to continue to feed hungry children in our community. Since the original story aired, monetary and food donations have provided nearly $20,000 to the program.
Camp Fire’s Weekend Food Program was created to combat childhood hunger in our community and is driven by dedicated volunteers and community partners. Camp Fire provides food to elementary school age children who have little or no food on the weekend. Volunteers fill backpacks each week of the year with food that is both nutritious and child-friendly. The backpacks are handed out on Friday to the children and then returned on Monday of each week.
Camp Fire’s Weekend Food Program helps more than 250 local children at two of our After School programs, but the need is so much greater.
