Giving Begins Early

Libby Bekins

Libby Bekins had the type of party that every little girl dreams of…she and twenty of her closest friends riding in a limo to a salon to have their nails and makeup done. Yet, instead of having these friends bring gifts to celebrate her 6th birthday, Libby asked them to donate to Camp Fire’s Snack Pack Program. Her friends were not surprised though, as this is the second year in a row that Libby has used her birthday party as a reason to encourage them to give back to their communities.

Libby, whose favorite food is spinach, still cannot believe that there are kids that are her age who do not have enough food at home. Her philanthropic spirit and dedication to the Snack Pack Project helped her raise $380 to ensure that the children served by the program can continue to take home kid-friendly and nutritious food each weekend. It is because of generosity like Libby’s that Camp Fire is able to provide Snack Packs to 340 children each week, getting them through an otherwise hungry weekend.
