A Birthday Gift that Gave
Posted: August 23rd, 2006

On Wednesday, Aug. 23, Camp Fire Omaha received a very generous donation from Mallory Grote. As part of her birthday celebration, Mallory and her family requested that in lieu of gifts, friends bring a contribution for the Snack Pack program. Mallory raised $155 and proudly presented the money in person at the Camp Fire office.
When praised for her selfless act, Mallory responded, “I want other kids to be able to eat like I do.” Along with the donated funds, Mallory brought backpacks to be used in the program.
The Snack Pack program provides child-friendly, nutritious food for hungry children over the weekends. Each child in the program receives a sturdy backpack in which food is transported home every Friday. On Mondays, the children return the backpacks to be refilled and distributed again that week.
